Sri Bangur Government Museum

Ari Bangur Government Museum, one of the most famous tourist centers of Rajasthan, is functioning in a majestic building near old bus stand of Pali. Even though the museum was laid on 1982 April 26, it was thrown open to the public on 1991 July 19. Bangur museum is named after Mr. Bangur Juar, like many other buildings in Pali like Bangur Dharmashala, Bangur Hospital.

You will really wonder watching the fine collection of artifacts in Bangur museum. Various sculptures, specimen of minerals, epigraphic exhibits, coins of historical interest, arms, armor, miniature paintings and wooden handicrafts displayed in the museum will really make you wonder. You can also see the stone tool specialties that belong to the Paleolithic period.

Pre-historic section: The stone tools that belong to Palaeolithic period like blade, hand axe, flake and scrapper type tools etc. are displayed in pre-historic section.

Archaeological Section: Archaeological section is the most important section of Bangur museum. The stone and metal images of Brahamanical and Jain deities collected from various places of Pali district like Balvana, Nadol, Bali, Hemawas, Sewari and Nimaj are displayed in this section. You can also see the objects collected from Savidar, Bhinmal and Sayla of Jalore district in Rajasthan here.

The sculptures in archeological section of Bangur museum range in date from 6th century A.D down to 17th – 18th century A.D. You can also see various inscriptions in this section. A rare bronze statue of Jivant Swami, statues of Lord Vishnu, Lord Ganesha, Sur Sundri, Goddess Saraswati, Chandra Prabhu, Parikar, Goddess Kali  are the major attractions in Bangur museum. Architectural pieces such as parts of Jain temple with beautiful carvings are also kept here.

Painting section: We can see an immense contribution by Rajasthan to the realm of Indian paintings. Bangur museum displays miniature paintings of the former rulers of Jodhpur state.
Arms and Armour section: Old weapons like sword, axe, shield, gun, pistol and canons etc are displayed in a showcase of Arms and Armour section in Bangur museum.
Handicrafts and exhibit of tribal life: Regional wooden handicraft, ornaments, musical instruments and costumes of the Garasiya tribe are included in this section.

Numismatics and Epigraphic (Copper-plate) section:
  You can see huge collection of different coins that belong to Ala-ud-din-Khiliji, Firuz Shah Tughluq, Mubarak Shah and later Mughal rulers. Copper plates are also displayed here.
